Olmo — Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Olmo ("we," "us"). By using Olmo, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
- You must be 13 or older.
- Olmo is beta software: things may break or change, and your companion lives on your device's anonymous account — losing or resetting the device loses your progress, with no way to recover it.
- Coins, energy, and items in Olmo are play money. They can't be bought, sold, or cashed out, and there is nothing to purchase in the app.
- Your tasks are yours. The app, the artwork, and Olmo the otter are ours.
1. Who can use Olmo
You must be at least 13 years old. The app verifies this with a date-of-birth check before you can use it.
2. Beta software
Olmo is pre-release software distributed through Apple TestFlight to testers in the United States. Features may change, break, or be reset between versions.
Please read this part: your Olmo account is anonymous by design — we never ask for a name, email, or password. The tradeoff is that your account is tied to your device. If you lose your device, reset it, or delete the app's data, your Olmo and all progress are gone permanently, and we have no way to restore them. We'd rather tell you this plainly now than surprise you later.
3. The service
Olmo is a study companion: you add real tasks and run focus sessions, and completing them earns in-app rewards you can use to care for a virtual otter and grow its home.
4. Virtual items
Coins, energy, and all in-app items are virtual. They have no monetary value, cannot be purchased with real money (the app contains no purchases), and cannot be sold, transferred, exchanged, or redeemed for anything outside the app. We may adjust virtual balances or items where needed to correct errors or prevent abuse. Because nothing in Olmo costs money, there are no refunds.
5. Your content
The tasks you type belong to you. You give us a limited license to store, process, and display that content back to you — that's what it takes to run the app, and it's the only thing we use it for. One piece of advice: task titles are for to-dos, so please don't put sensitive personal information in them.
6. Fair use
Don't abuse the service: no exploiting bugs to farm rewards, no automated clients or scripted requests, no attempts to disrupt the service or access other users' data, and no unlawful use. We may suspend accounts that do these things.
7. Our property
The app, its code, its artwork, and the Olmo character are owned by us or our licensors. Using the app doesn't give you any rights to them beyond using the app as intended.
8. No warranties
Olmo is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. It's a beta study buddy, not a guarantee of anything — including your grades.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data (including lost virtual items or progress). Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you have paid us in the past twelve months — which is currently nothing, because Olmo is free.
10. Ending things
You can stop using Olmo at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms. Sections 4–12 survive termination.
11. Assignment
We may assign this agreement to a successor entity — for example, a company we form to operate Olmo. Your rights under these terms are unchanged by such an assignment. You may not assign this agreement.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
13. Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we'll update the date at the top of this page and flag meaningful changes prominently here or in the app. Continuing to use Olmo after a change means you accept the updated terms.
